Candidate 2024

My Family

I'm a proud mom of two adult kids, Alli and Ryan, and a furry mom to two lovable dogs, Norma the Puggle and Louise the Pug. Originally from Washington state, I took a brief detour to Arizona before finding my new home in Denver, where I purchased my condo in Morningside in December 2022.

Professional Background

I spent 13 years at Boeing as a Senior Electrical/Electronics Manufacturing Engineering Planner, working on the Defense and Space side. After leaving Boeing, I joined a workplace solutions company as a Program Specialist, where I managed the recruitment process for Amazon hiring managers seeking contingent workers.

Fiscal Responsibility

I am committed to collaborating with the Board to identify areas where we can reduce costs, thereby allowing us to scale up our reserves and better position our community to tackle the various issues that come with aging buildings.

I believe that by working together, we can achieve significant cost savings while maintaining the quality of service and amenities that our homeowners have come to expect. This, in turn, will enable us to build a stronger, more resilient HOA that is better equipped to handle the challenges that lie ahead.

Accountability

Unfortunately, we have encountered instances where our HOA has inadvertently absorbed costs for repairs that, in fact, should have been the responsibility of the homeowner. This can lead to unnecessary expenses for the HOA, which can ultimately impact our community's finances and potentially result in increased fees for all homeowners.

To avoid such misunderstandings, I would like to remind everyone of the importance of understanding their responsibilities as homeowners. It is essential to recognize that certain maintenance and repairs are the individual homeowner's responsibility, while others fall under the purview of the HOA.

Water Conservation

Specifically, I'd like to propose the following:

  • Identifying areas on our property that are more suited for xeriscaping, which can help reduce water consumption and maintenance costs.
  • Implementing measures to prevent overwatering, which can lead to significant waste and inefficiency.
  • Updating our sprinkler types to more water-efficient models, which can help minimize waste and reduce our environmental footprint.
  • Fostering a "water conservation" attitude amongst our owners, which can help encourage a sense of responsibility and ownership in our community's efforts to conserve this valuable resource.

I believe that by working together, we can make a significant difference in our community's water usage and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Community Involvement

As we go about our daily lives, I'm reminded of the importance of building relationships with those around us. I believe that social events are a great way to foster good will amongst neighbors and create a sense of community.

In addition to social events, I also think it's essential that we have more participation in our HOA meetings. These meetings are a great opportunity for us to come together, share our ideas, and make decisions that benefit our community. I know that there are many great ideas and perspectives out there.

With that in mind, I'd like to challenge our community to commit to attending at least two HOA meetings a year. By doing so, we can get to know each other better, share our thoughts and ideas, and plan for the future of our community.

I truly believe that by working together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant community that we can all be proud of. I hope you'll join me in this effort and make a commitment to attend at least two HOA meetings this year.
